How to see Real Results from your Big Ideas

Today is October 1st! Can you believe how fast time flies when you’re having fun?!

In the spirit of planning for a successful end to this year, and this decade (!), I’ve been hyper-focused on finding ways that I know I can achieve my big goals. I’m looking into changing bad habits and creating better ones.

I was listening to a podcast today and the host said:

Don’t leave the scene of the decision without taking some kind of action.

Preston Pugmire

This struck me as a super important step that I’ve been missing. I paused the podcast and started journaling my thoughts right away.

I often dream up big ideas or conduct meetings where we come up with great solutions to problems we’ve been dealing with but often those solutions or big ideas don’t get implemented.

Whether I lack the skill of follow-through or those around me didn’t buy in to the solution isn’t really the point. (side note – I’ve recently discovered my personality type according to 16personalities.com. This test says I’m a fantastic ideas person, but not such a great implementer. Surprise, surprise!)

But let’s think about this for a minute. If every time I committed to following a clean eating plan, I sat down then and there and planned out the next 3 meals I would make, and jotted down a quick grocery list of items I’d need, I’ll bet I’d have followed through for those 3 days and probably would have been motivated to keep going.

Instead, I buy cookbooks, pin recipes, follow inspiring folks who are masters at the clean eating thing, and say that I’m gonna do it, someday. All while snacking on whatever’s hanging out in the pantry that day.

So as the podcast quote suggests , I’m posting here for action and accountability. For the next 90 days, I’m committing to follow Rachel Hollis’ 5 to Thrive. I’ll be posting daily updates on FB and IG, I’d love to have you join me. To find out more, also check out #last90days on Instagram.

What action are you going to take today?
