How to see Real Results from your Big Ideas

Today is October 1st! Can you believe how fast time flies when you’re having fun?!

In the spirit of planning for a successful end to this year, and this decade (!), I’ve been hyper-focused on finding ways that I know I can achieve my big goals. I’m looking into changing bad habits and creating better ones.

I was listening to a podcast today and the host said:

Don’t leave the scene of the decision without taking some kind of action.

Preston Pugmire

This struck me as a super important step that I’ve been missing. I paused the podcast and started journaling my thoughts right away.

I often dream up big ideas or conduct meetings where we come up with great solutions to problems we’ve been dealing with but often those solutions or big ideas don’t get implemented.

Whether I lack the skill of follow-through or those around me didn’t buy in to the solution isn’t really the point. (side note – I’ve recently discovered my personality type according to 16personalities.com. This test says I’m a fantastic ideas person, but not such a great implementer. Surprise, surprise!)

But let’s think about this for a minute. If every time I committed to following a clean eating plan, I sat down then and there and planned out the next 3 meals I would make, and jotted down a quick grocery list of items I’d need, I’ll bet I’d have followed through for those 3 days and probably would have been motivated to keep going.

Instead, I buy cookbooks, pin recipes, follow inspiring folks who are masters at the clean eating thing, and say that I’m gonna do it, someday. All while snacking on whatever’s hanging out in the pantry that day.

So as the podcast quote suggests , I’m posting here for action and accountability. For the next 90 days, I’m committing to follow Rachel Hollis’ 5 to Thrive. I’ll be posting daily updates on FB and IG, I’d love to have you join me. To find out more, also check out #last90days on Instagram.

What action are you going to take today?

Moving from Dreaming to Creating

As I’ve been brainstorming what I want our new house to look and feel like. I’ve been living on Pinterest, saving tons of ideas to reference back to and of course, I’ve been getting so much inspiration to make the new space our own.   But I’ve hit a little bit of a reality wall.   I

It’s official!  We’re under contract and we’re buying a house!  We’ve been basement dwellers for more than 3 years and now we get the opportunity to create new memories in a new place!  At the beginning of the year, I set the intention that by June 30, we would have a house plan in place

Love What Matters

A while ago, I came across a page on Facebook called ‘Love What Matters’ and it has been very inspiring to me. I read this post https://www.facebook.com/lovewhatreallymatters/posts/1181967328492330:0 about a family who had just delivered a baby. The mother was hemorrhaging and the husband was in crisis, contemplating her impending death. I’ll let you read what

On Being a Creator

Today, I am inspired to create.  I want nothing more than to dismantle a house and completely remodel it.  Or design a home from the ground up, step back, and admire the work. I never knew how much I would miss this creative outlet when we finished our 10-year renovation project and sold it last

Fulfill the Measure of Your Creation

When my kids were younger, I would ask them to do something, and their response was often the same three-letter word: “Please get ready for bed.”   “Why?” “Please brush your teeth.” “Why?” “Please eat your dinner.” “Why?” It might have been cute the first 300 times, but after a while, it became exhausting trying
